- Plato forbade it in his Republic. Makes men unmanly and unvirtuous. Homer who made the Gods hypocrites and the great heroes like wailing women with his brilliant words. So brilliant that the people believed it. And they erred and wailed in the image of their greatest Gods and heroes.

- I read the republic over the last few days. And many times I was struck by similarities in Plato's vision and what I know of Hitler's. I'm sure Hitler had a copy of the republic.
